Two More Teeth (Number Five and Six!)

On Monday night I noticed two blisters on the top of Truman's mouth on his gum line. One of these blisters started to bleed by the end of the night which never happened before. It looked as though two teeth may be breaking the surface, but his gums looked different than last time. Funny thing, he is not getting his two front teeth! Although, he has not been teething in the usual order. He has been sleeping a lot over the last few days and was crying since he woke up this morning and is now taking a nap. Poor guy! My arms seem to be the only thing that comforts him, which does not bother me at all!

Monday night we celebrated my father's 65th birthday. The family went out for dinner and then had dessert at our house (made by Tina of course). I think she made the BEST dessert ever....chocolate brownie cake with a white chocolate mouse and candied bananas....my oh my!

Yesterday Truman and I went to Gymboree and had a blast (I had such a workout!), we played and played some more. Truman has been flirting with all of our instructors lately and talks to them as they are giving the group instructions. I can't help but laugh! We then went on a nice long walk with Emily and Grace and enjoyed the beautiful weather. I was in much need of a nice Starbuck's coffee. What a warm and glorious day yesterday...I can't wait for the warm weather to stay!

Today, I am getting a much needed haircut and Nanny and Oopa are coming downtown with us. Hopefully Truman will be OK and not in too much pain.

The Weigh In: Part Six

I took Truman to his seventh month appointment...I was so worried that he hadn't put on enough weight, although he felt heavier I still had some reservations. I am happy to report that Truman is now just under 17lbs...weighing 7.68 kg. The solid food is sure helping him! He also shrank 1 cm...so I am assuming that the measurements from last time were wrong! Not the most accurate form of measurement! We are going back to the doctor in two months time just to make sure Truman is gaining enough weight. He is still only in the 25th percentile for weight. Plus, it will give me some peace of mind!

This week Truman tried pears and green beans...and what a reaction! It was so funny that I had to record him. I have been trying desperately to find a way to post the video...it makes me laugh every time I watch it! When he takes a bite it is like he is consuming something really strong. But now Truman's favourite thing to do is to spit out the food and spray it at me. I am trying so hard not to laugh because I am trying not to encourage this behaviour! But, truly it is adorable.

Yesterday afternoon Truman and I went for a nice long walk with Emily and Grace and enjoyed the beautiful warm weather. I can't wait for the warm temperatures to stay! Last night Jerry looked after Truman while I went out with the girl's. Both boys had a lot of fun together going for a walk and visiting Wawa. Next week we are starting both swimming lessons and Gymboree and are looking forward to them both!

I also wanted to wish my father a Happy 65th Birthday! We can't wait to celebrate on Monday!

Sitting Pretty

Yesterday Truman hit another developmental milestone...he sat on his own for a long period of time (meaning more than a few seconds)....he seemed quite proud of himself and was enjoying this new sensation! I am not sure how long he sat for, but it was at least 10 minutes! Wawa and David were over last night to witness this occasion! I am such a proud momma!

Yesterday afternoon we went to Ethan's third birthday party at this awesome indoor playground. Although Truman couldn't really "play", we had fun going down the slides together and Truman of course enjoyed flirting with all of the people. Other party attendees that we knew were Stephanie, Christine and Dashiell. Little Dash was such an angel and he slept through the entire party. I hope that I'll be able to hold him next time. Christine was as sweet as always and had so much fun playing with all of the toys. We also saw Rebecca, Shane and Harry. I can't believe that Harry is already a year old! Here's a picture of Harry, Scott and Truman (aka Harry S Truman)....OK we think it's funny...sorry! Ethan was having a great time playing with all of his friends and little Olivia looked like a princess!
So, March seems to be a popular month for birthdays and we have a couple of people we would like to send wishes out to....
Happy 1st Birthday Alexis! Happy 3rd Birthday Ethan! Happy Birthday Myriah! We hope everyone enjoys their special day! All the best!
Also, congratulations to Tzen and Tash! We can't wait to meet Leo!

Snuggle Bear

This morning, I put Truman down for his nap and when I came back in the room, this is how I found him! Fast asleep cuddling with his bear! Too cute! My little bug is still sleeping! We were suppose to be at Becca and Jake's at noon, so looks like we are going to be a little late!

Tonight Truman is going to be babysat by Wawa while Jerry and I go out for dinner with some of Jerry's work colleagues. I am looking forward to it (especially the coconut cream pie - best in the city! Yum!). Truman is looking forward to having a few hours alone with his grandmother!

This week all of our classes were cancelled because of March Break, but we still managed to stay busy. On Tuesday, Jerry ended up coming home early and we took a nice long walk and went for coffee and even sat outside! BTW, I can't wait for spring!! Wednesday Truman and I met Macayla and Bronna, Jake and Becca for coffee and lunch. Yesterday afternoon Nanny and Oopa came over for their weekly visit. Nanny enjoyed feeding Truman and helped my bathe him before bed. Tomorrow we are planning to meet Lana for lunch to catch up.

Happy 60th Nanny!

Yesterday Oopa, Tina, Pat, Jerry, Truman and I celebrated Nanny's (my mother's) 60th birthday! We all had such a wonderful evening....and Truman was excellent at the restaurant. It was only at the end of the meal when he had enough and started to fuss. We were all surprised at how good he was being! After dinner the gang headed back to our place for dessert, which of course was made by aunt Tina....yum! Tina made an orange blossom butter cake, with date mousse filing and iced with a chocolate ganache! We all took part in bathing Truman and then put him to bed (although he did not want to sleep). Truman woke up again in the middle of the night (two nights in a row) and had trouble falling back asleep. I hope this does not become a pattern, because I am having trouble falling back asleep too after he wakes up. I was up last night for two and a half hours until I decided to make myself a warm cup of milk. I was so tired this morning that I didn't even hear Jerry get out of bed!!

Truman and I walked Jerry to the subway this morning and then went for a long walk! Jerry was going to take the day off to spend with us and he was heartbroken when he was presented with more work yesterday afternoon. Poor daddy did not want to leave us today, we'll count down the days until the weekend!

Today I am going to try to make some baby food....I hope it turns out OK!!!! The first few times Truman tried bananas he wasn't crazy about them at all, but once I mixed it with oatmeal or rice cereal he seemed to enjoy the bananas that much better! It's all about the distractions!
Jerry, Truman, Morrie and I would also like to wish Grandpa Topolski a Happy 60th Birthday! We are looking forward to our visit this summer!

Meeting a New Friend!

Friday night Jerry and I decided to go out for sushi since it would be a quick and rather painless dinner. Well, eating sushi with a baby on your lap is not the easiest thing! Our little bundle refused to sit in his Bumbo and wanted to be in on all the action. Truman was either trying to grab the food, hot tea or chopsticks. He's an active fellow! Our dinner was less than 45 minutes in duration! Nonetheless, we did go out!

Saturday afternoon we went to meet the newest member of our group - baby Dash! What a cute little fellow. I can't remember when Truman was that small (although Truman was bigger at birth than Dash is now). It was really nice to hold a newborn again and hear the little noises they make. Stephanie and Ben are both doing well and Christine seems to love her new little brother. Christine has learned to twirl which is so adorable! We also saw Katie, Tim, Erin, Jamie, Myriah, Scott, Ethan and Olivia at the Thornton's.

Last night we had a quiet evening at home and Truman had some difficulty falling asleep which I wasn't surprised about. He didn't have a proper afternoon nap, Jerry and I are convinced he is teething again and this time getting his upper teeth. He is continuously sucking on his upper lip (although he hasn't been drooling)....time will tell!

This afternoon we went to a Pampered Chef party at Ryan, Rebecca and Jake's house. Jake and Truman spent some time playing with each other. Macayla joined in the fun too as she is feeling much better and is almost over her cold! We then went for a nice long walk with Macayla, Bronna and Jeff and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We can't wait for spring!

What's Doin'?

Truman and I have had a busy week once again....we had a lot to do after getting back from vacation and we both were catching up on sleep! Monday we had our regular Salsa class and then walked around Bayview Village with Emily and Grace. Monday night we put Truman back to sleep in his crib and he did exceptionally well. He only woke up once for his soother! I am happy that he adjusted back so quickly! On Tuesday morning we signed up for swimming classes which start in April and we both can't wait (although I can wait to put on a bathing suit). Tuesday afternoon we went for a nice walk with Emily and Grace and enjoyed the sunshine, but wished it wasn't so cold....Truman and I were missing the Caribbean weather! Wednesday we went to library class with Becca and Jake. Both boys enjoyed the singing and the stories! Then Wednesday afternoon Nanny and Oopa came for their weekly visit. Yesterday we tried a Gymboree class and will be joining at the end of the month. Truman can't wait to play with Jake and Macayla! Last night we went to Aunt Misty's for dinner and Truman had a blast and giggled for most of the night. It took him about half an hour to adjust to Misty's house, but once he did he was in great spirits!

Both Baba and Wawa have been very sick this week and we have been very worried about them both. Thankfully they are both feeling much better now. We hope we will have a chance to visit with them this weekend.

Truman is still enjoying his food and has tried both carrots and sweet potatoes and seems to be liking both veggies. I am hoping to try bananas on the weekend!

The Weigh In: Part Five/Six Months!/Tooth Number Four/Trip to Dominican Republic/Fattening Up!/New Friend

Wow! So much has happened since I last blogged! I will try to capture as much as I can...I'm working on only a few hours of sleep!

On February 23rd I took Truman to his 6 month appointment. I was a little upset to find out that Truman lost 1/2 a pound. I know that this does not seem like much at all (and I had suspected that he had not gained much weight), but I never thought he would have lost weight! At the same time he grew 3 cm in length and is now 70cm! 90 percentile for length, 22nd for weight! The Dr. isn't worried about his weight loss, so I am not going to worry either. I am just so happy that I started him on solids early! To think I may have been starving my child.

February 24th we left for the Caribbean and arrived in Punta Cana in the late evening. Truman only got a little upset on the flight down, being that it was a few hours past his bedtime. The drive to our hotel was rather rough and difficult without a car seat, although we managed quite well under the circumstances. It was glorious to be in the warm temperatures! We were so happy to get to our room, we quickly unpacked, ordered room service and went to bed.

The next morning we woke up early to check out the resort and of course grab some breakfast. We also went to find Wawa and David to say hello. We travelled to Punta Cana with both sets of parents which proved to be very helpful and a lot of fun having everyone around. The grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. We had banana trees growing right outside our window! The beach was breathtaking! Truman loved playing in, or rather eating the sand. He was a little bit afraid of the waves in the ocean and cried every time we brought him in the water. We spent most days by the pool as it was just so much easier with the little one. Besides, Truman preferred the pool water and each of us had so much fun taking him in.

We easily got ourselves into a routine and our days looked a little like this. Truman would wake up early every morning and as I would feed him, Jerry or my father would get our regular spot at the pool. We would then either try to get Truman to go back to sleep, or go for breakfast and then try to get Truman to go down for a nap. Truly, Jerry and I wanted to sleep in and this was the only way to get a few more hours of sleep. Not that we should complain, as we were in our room by 9pm at the latest every evening and usually asleep shortly after that....but we were on vacation and enjoyed a little sleep in! We would play by the pool, take a dip or two in the pool, and then gorge ourselves at lunch with delicious treats. We would return to the pool for a few more hours of sun and fun. Then, every afternoon, Jerry, Truman and I would take a walk on the beach and go for cappuccinos in the lobby bar (Starbucks could be in trouble if Bahia Principie decided to serve their coffee as a large franchise operation!). We would head back to the room and to get ready for dinner and gorge ourselves again. The food was excellent, and I would not be surprised if we all gained some weight. But, we couldn't help ourselves...delish!

While we were away, Truman turned 6 months! I can't believe half a year has already gone by already! On his 6 month birthday Truman cut his fourth tooth, again on the bottom. He was a little upset that day. Well, actually he screamed quite a bit and I wasn't sure why - I looked in his mouth and pop! another tooth! Is this really happening? Four teeth already! The next day, Truman was his happy, flirty self. We were happy that the pain did not last too long. Truman has also learned to sit quite well on his own, he does on occasion slouch over to one side. He has however, learned to bend and reach for a toy and then sit up. He marvelled at himself doing this over and over and over again one afternoon. He has also really mastered saying "ba" and "ma" and has been looking rather determined to try to communicate with us. Hmm, I wonder what he is trying to say?

I also think that over the last week Truman has put on some weight (hooray!). His arms and legs look a lot thicker which I am very happy about. We were feeding him cereal three times a day while away. Which, believe me is not easy when you realize you have a limited supply of ready-made formula with you! We thankfully had just enough. I can't get over how much the little man LOVES food. I can't wait to try new foods now that we are back.

We left our resort yesterday in the early evening (so sad). Jerry held him in the Baby Bjorn and both boys were loving all the attention they were receiving. Truman would giggle and laugh and anyone who would make eye contact. As we were boarding the plane, I took him in the carrier and he fell asleep and stayed asleep until about a half hour before we landed. What an angel, really. When we disembarked, Truman again became a little flirt and was so happy to be around all the people. He fell asleep as soon as we got him in his car seat and slept until early this morning. He's been a little off today (can we blame him, I'm a little off too). We are really going to miss spending time with Jerry this week and we'll just have to look forward to next weekend when we'll have more time together again!

While we were away, Ben and Stephanie had a little boy - Dashiell Carter. We want to wish the Thornton's congratulations and we are looking forward to meeting the newest member of your family!

Tooth Number Three!

Truman had difficulty sleeping last night and was very congested. At about 5:30am, and having gone into Truman's room a number of times to help him get back to sleep I decided to bring him into our bed. Luckily, he and I slept for a few hours. I was just hoping the he was not coming down with anything, but it was apparent that he really needed to be comforted. I then remembered when Truman's last teeth came in how we thought he had come down with a cold but he was actually teething. Well, this afternoon I saw another little white bud poking through. Funny though, he is getting another tooth on the bottom and not top! How cute are his three little teeth going to look???

My father and I took turns carrying Truman around, as he would not be happy any other way. Even when he was trying to go down for a nap this afternoon I had to rock him to sleep which I have not had to do for a long time! I can't really complain though, he has been relatively happy considering he's teething,

Truman is really enjoying his rice cereal, and yesterday we tried oatmeal for the first time which he devoured! We will be waiting until we get back from vacation until we start fruits and veggies - but I can't wait to try! I hope he likes them! Only three more days until we leave for our trip, sunshine here we come!

Good Friends and Fun!

Truman had a very fun and busy weekend. Friday night we went to Baba's for a delicious dinner. We put Truman in his travelling highchair and he fussed and fussed, when we tried to take him out the tray was stuck which panicked all of us. We eventually got him out but have since returned the chair.

Saturday we ran a whole bunch of errands - we went to Toys R Us, exchanged our car seat, and visited the library for Jerry. We then went to the Sullivan's and had dinner with them, the Thornton's and Walshy. Olivia and Truman spent some time "playing" with one another and Christine gave me a wonderful hug! Unfortunately, Truman's witching hour came abruptly and we had to leave in such a rush I wasn't even able to finish my dessert. Believe me, you don't want to miss out on anything Stephanie makes! Our little boy knows when he wants to go to sleep...I guess we can't complain!

On Sunday we had Wawa and David over for breakfast. Wawa fed Truman his rice cereal, he loved it so much he wanted seconds. Then Wawa and David took Morrie and Truman out for a long walk while Jerry and I cleaned the house from top to bottom. In the afternoon, Truman, Jerry and I went to Ryan, Rebecca and Jake's house for a lovely "pasta bar" dinner. We were joined by Bronna, Jeff and Macayla. It was so cute watching the children "interact". Jerry tried to give Truman his first sip of Coke, luckily I stopped them in time! :)

Yum Yum!

Yum! Food is delicious! This morning Jerry and I fed Truman his first solid food today. Well, if you can call what we gave him solid...the rice cereal was the consistency of thick milk. Nonetheless, Truman LOVED it! He is definitely a Topolski-Braun!!! Truman is so much happier today, so now I feel like I have been starving my child unnecessarily. He just wanted more food and this was probably the reason he has been a little cranky over the last few days. Feeding him will make our trip a little bit more challenging, but at least we will have a happy baby on our hands.

Truman had a lot of fun eating today but it was really messy. I see a lot more loads of laundry in our future! I just thought the look on Truman's face was priceless. He completely grabbed the spoon and shoved it in his mouth and just wanted more! ADORABLE!!!

Sweet Kisses

Last night Truman, Jerry and I went out for dinner to celebrate Valentine's Day. One of my dates however, slept through the entire meal. Truman made up for it though when we got home as he was full of energy and was enjoying playing with the whole family. Over the past few weeks Truman has started to show some emotional behaviours by giving us hugs and open mouth kisses (although he may also just be trying to latch onto the occasional cheek here and there).

Truman had a little bit of a rough day yesterday. He constantly wanted to be held and the second I put him down he began to fuss. He also took a lot of naps (more than usual). I am wondering if he is teething again or if he is hungry. I am so worried that we should have started feeding him solids but the timing is not right with our upcoming trip to the Dominican Republic. I am sure he is just fine, but it is a parents job to worry!

Happy Valentine's Day

Truman and I woke up to a winter wonderland this morning. So, after showing Truman the snow from inside the house, it was time to show him the real thing! I dressed Truman in some warm clothes and then his snowsuit and hat and brought him outside for a little photo shoot. Well, Truman fell asleep instantly! I guess the combination of the cold air and being comfortable in his snowsuit was the perfect condition for an early afternoon nap! Maybe we'll try again later! Too cute! Truman and I don't have any plans today as we don't really want to drive anywhere and leave the house. It is also too cold to take Truman on a walk. So we are stuck inside and trying to find ways to keep ourselves amused! I am dying for a coffee so we may have to go to Starbucks later this afternoon...

Yesterday afternoon Jerry, Truman and I went to the public library to get Truman a library card. He didn't really find any books that he was interested in taking out just yet. But we did stay and read a few books while we were there.

I hope everyone enjoys their Valentine's Day!!

Buffalo Soldier

What's new with Truman? He's been quite the busy boy over the past week or so that I have not updated his blog (bad mommy). Developmentally, he has discovered his feet, loves to put EVERYTHING in his mouth, is sitting on his own momentarily (seconds really), and loves to giggle and squeal when I do something funny. This evening I was making popping noises with my mouth and he was giggling and screaming so much, which in turn made me giggle and laugh back at him. He has truly been quite delightful! Jerry was sure Truman said "ma" and I think I heard him say "ba"....maybe his first word will be ba-ha-ma!

Tina, Misty, Truman and I went to Buffalo for some shopping this weekend. Poor Truman just wanted out of his car seat so badly on our way there he was crying so much and for so long I felt horrible for him. As soon as we reached our destination and I had him in my arms all crying ceased and he was a happy boy. He didn't sleep much during the day, which made it very difficult for him to fall asleep that evening at the hotel. Shopping however, was very successful and Truman has a whole new spring/summer wardrobe! I even bought myself two pairs of shoes!
Other than that, Truman enjoyed the art gallery, maybe because the photographs were black and white or that there were lots of people around that he could talk to? Poor Truman, everyone thought he was a little girl because I put him in a pink button down....silly mommy! But it was Ralph Lauren!

Happy Guy!

Truman has been such a happy fella lately! His smile constantly melts my heart! Truman has "rediscovered" his voice, in that he loves to squeal in delight (especially when Morrie enters the room) and he is modulating his voice even more....it is so adorable! I am really starting to get sad that our time together will soon be ending. I am enjoying my time with him so much!

Truman and I went to visit Misty last night and a very delicious dinner...yum! Truman was on his best behaviour but got a little tired at the end of the night. He cried most of the way home, which panicked me. I can't even count the number of times I had to pop his soother back in his mouth! He just wants to be in his crib to sleep now (even for naps!). So I have to start watching the signs to make sure we make it home on time! Truman loves to move around in his crib but he wakes himself up when he reaches the end of the crib and can't move any further! Poor guy! He often wakes up with red circles on is knees from all the movement!

This afternoon Truman and I are going to the AGO to see the Ansel Adams exhibit. It should be a nice afternoon! We then are hopefully meeting Jerry for either lunch or coffee. Tonight we are going to Wawa and David's house for dinner. Should be a nice weekend!

5 Months!

Today Truman turned 5 months, time is definitely going by too quickly! Truman is really learning how to use his voice and has started squealing in delight. He especially likes to giggle and squeal when Morrie comes into view. Truman has begun to notice Morrie and tries to reach out to pet him. Morrie however, is now afraid of Truman, maybe one day they will be friends!

We think Truman may be teething again, he is displaying all the same signs as last time....drooling, rosy cheeks and chewing anything he can get his hands on! We'll soon see...Truman has also begun to suck his thumb in the past few weeks, I think it helps soothe his gums!

This weekend was quite a busy one...Friday night we relaxed at home as Jerry has been working very long hours and needed some rest and relaxation. Saturday, Truman and I met up with Tina for some shopping and coffee. We then picked Jerry up at the subway and went to Tim and Katie's for a delicious dinner. Truman got a little fussy at the end of the night but was on pretty good behaviour. Sunday we met up with Pam and Ashu for brunch. Sunday night we had Jake, Ryan, Rebecca, Macayla, Jeff and Bronna over for make your own pizza night. The three kids had a lot of fun playing, but at around 7:30pm all three had enough and were ready for bed, making for an early night! Next time we'll have to start a little earlier.

Do you think Truman will play soccer, football or basketball?

A Week in Review

Truman and I have had a fun and busy week. Tuesday afternoon we visited Jenn for lunch...it was really nice seeing Jenn again and catching up! After lunch, Truman and I met with Emily and Grace for a nice afternoon walk to Loblaws. Wednesday morning Truman and I met with Jake, Rebecca, Bronna and Macalya for our "Making the Connection" class...which we have decided to drop out of because the class ended up not being what we were interested in. We then went to Milestones for lunch and the kids were all on their best behaviour! You can see Truman and Macayla in the attached picture....the two of them were very interested in each other and kept grabbing hands....it looked like they were trying to hug it was so sweet! After lunch Nanny and Oopa came over for their weekly visit. Today Truman and I went to Mommy Movies and saw Dreamgirls. Truman seemed to enjoy the movie, he had such bright eyes through most of it, but he eventually got tired and took a much needed nap. We invited Alison and Alexis over for dinner tonight. Alexis has so much hair, her sqealing and crawling is so adorable. Truman and Alexis had fun playing together and I am sure they are going to have more fun as the years go on.

Truman has been rolling a lot this week, he seems to get a little frustrated however as he gets caught half way there. Poor thing! He just needs a little more practice. Truman discovered his toes today and even sat on his own for a few short moments. He also went almost 12 hours without feeding last night! I can hardly believe how much our life has changed in the last few weeks! I am really enjoying watching him grow and learn, he makes me so incredibly happy!

The Weigh In: Part Four

Truman had his 5th month check up this morning and he is weighing in at 7.21kg (just shy of 16lbs) and is 67cm, he is in the 80% percentile for height! I wonder if he is going to be tall? Truman is obsessed with putting his soother in and out of his mouth and he especially enjoys chewing on the ends.

Yesterday we bought Truman his high chair (as you can see in the picture). The high chair is so cool and comes with a DVD to show you the different seating options. So far he seems to enjoy being in it. I am sure he is ready to start solids at any time, but we'll be waiting until he is 6 moths to begin the fun!

Anya, Wolf and Joachim are safely back in Belgium. We had a lovely visit with them and Joachim is going to be greatly missed! Friday night we had another lovely dinner at Wawa and David's house with many guests who wanted to see the boys. Aunt Danka made a special trip to Toronto to meet the cousins. She is such a natural with children and both Truman and Joachim seem to really like her. Truman has been shortening our outings lately as he wants to be in bed by around 8 o'clock. He has slept through the night (without waking or wanting to be fed) for just over a week now. Jerry and I have so much free time on our hands we don't know what to do. We have rented a lot of movies and have been catching up on sleep ourselves!

Saturday, Truman and I met up with Misty for some shopping at the Eaton Center. Truman was in such a great mood and was having lots of fun being carried by Misty everywhere! Yesterday we went to the Sullivan's for Stephanie's birthday brunch. Stephanie looks great and the baby has popped...what a beautiful belly! It was great seeing the gang again and I hope Tim and Katie were not sick of all the baby talk! Uncle Scott helped Truman stand alone for the first time on Sunday...we are so proud of our little son!

All Night Long...

Truman started sleeping again in his crib on Friday night and as I mentioned in a previous blog he was having a little difficulty. Last night however, he slept through the night! Jerry and I were both so pleased! He was a little fussy at around 3am, but we decided to push him a little more and the next thing I knew it was 5:30am! I hope tonight is a repeat performance. He fell asleep so quickly this evening, basically I put him down and he was asleep in less than 2 minutes! My son is sleeping in his crib and sleeping well!!! It is also really nice having Jerry back in our bed. Although, tonight I am alone as Jerry is in Montreal.

Truman and I have had a busy week so far. Sunday afternoon Wawa had a party for Joachim and Truman. Both boys were on their best behaviour and loved being center of attention. Thanks Wawa for hosting such a wonderful party, it was so nice to see everyone again. On Monday we had Salsa Babies and had a great time dancing with Joachim and Anya. Truman and I are going to miss them next week as they are heading back to Belgium on Saturday. Tuesday Truman and I had some errands to run during the day and then we headed to aunt Misty's house to have our "Christmas"....yes it is a few weeks late but between colds and busy schedules we finally got together for our gift exchange. Once again, Truman was a spoiled boy! This morning we were up bright and early for a new group called "Making the Connection" with Rebecca, Jake, Bronna and Macayla. Then of course we went out for lunch and the kids were wonderful! Truman insisted on being out of his car seat so he could look around and chat with everyone. Macayla and Jake both were angels. Nanny and Oopa then came over for a visit and we went for a nice walk in the beautiful sunshine!

Jew-ish?!

Truman has had a rather relaxing week....here's a quick recap! On Monday we started our next session of Salsa Babies. Truman is definitely heavier and I can completely feel a difference when I dance with him! Anya and Joachim joined us as well and we had a lot of fun. Tuesday Tina came over for a visit, and on Wednesday Nanny and Oopa came for a visit...such a popular boy. Thursday was my book club night so I had a few hours without my son. Jerry was looking forward to some father-son bonding time....unfortunaltey Truman decided to use that time for a much needed nap! Truman has been having a lot of difficulty napping since his teeth have come in and as a result he is a little more cranky than usual! Last night we went to Wawa and David's house for Shabbat dinner again. We were joined by Voytek and Noemi, who loved holding the cousins. As you can see, Truman is wearing a baby yamaka! He is ready to embrace his Jewish heritage.

Last night Truman started sleeping in his crib again! He slept in two four hour chunks and hardly woke up (just a couple of times) and now prefers to sleep on his side, which makes me less nervous! We will see how tonight unfolds! Have a nice weekend!

Truman's Second Tooth

Truman received his second tooth today...I can't believe it...or rather I don't want to believe it! Two teeth in two days! He is also trying desperately to sit up by himself...
Let me tell you a little bit about this weekend....Anya, Wolf and Baby J came in on Friday from Alaska. Considering their long travels, the family was doing very well. Joachim has changed so much in two weeks....he is such a happy and content little baby. Such a sweetheart! As well, Gabrysia came in from Chicago to meet the two cousins. We had a lovely Shabbat dinner with beautiful singing and yummy food. A good time was had by all! On Saturday afternoon Jerry, Truman and I met up with Anya, Wolf and Joachim and had lunch at Bayview Village and then walked around the mall for a bit. In the evening we all rented a movie (My Super Ex-Girlfriend) and ordered some pizza....delish! This morning we were back at Wanda and David's for a lovely brunch. This afternoon Tina, Truman and I will be going for a walk and definitely getting some coffee. I haven't been sleeping well the last few nights and neither has Truman. I am assuming he's had difficulty sleeping due to his teeth coming in. But truly he has been in wonderful spirits and we cannot complain at all.

Truman's First Tooth!

Jerry and I discovered a little white nubby thingy in Truman's mouth today! He cut his first tooth!!! We are both delighted and a little scared...our little one is growing too quickly, he needs to slow down. Gone is the day of his beautiful toothless grin. We've been lucky though, other than a little fussiness over the past few days (which we thought was cold related) he did not develop a fever or have any other symptoms. He had been drooling a lot lately and loved to chew on things...Baba was 100% right when she told me last week that he would have a tooth by the end of this week!

Rudolph is back

My poor boys are both fighting colds, not the best way to start off 2007. Jerry started to feel under the weather on our drive home from the Sullivan's on New Year's Eve. Truman started coughing on Tuesday and his nose has been bright red! Somehow I have managed not to develop any symptoms, although I have been a little tired this week.

On Monday Jerry and I had a very restful day. Wawa and David came to pick up the kids and took them for a nice long walk. Then we all went out for dinner and we were joined by Baba too! Tuesday Truman and I had more of a lazy day...we took a nice long walk in the morning and caught up on phone calls in the afternoon. Yesterday Nanny and Oopa came by for a visit. We went to Pickle Barrel for an enjoyable lunch and then walked around the mall for a bit.
We have a busy weekend ahead with cousin Joachim coming back into town as well as other out of town guests coming to meet the two boys. Should be a lot of fun!
